Hietink, Zimmerman Take New Posts


Hietink Appointed Director, GBS Worldwide; Zimmerman Moves to Africa as VP and Strategic Business Unit Manager

DELAWARE, Ohio (June 12, 2006) – Michael J. Gasser, chairman and chief executive officer of Greif, Inc. (NYSE: GEF, GEF.B), has announced that Reinier Hietink, Regional Manager of Africa, will be Director, Greif Business System (GBS) Worldwide. Rob Zimmerman, previously Vice President of Corporate Business Development, moves to South Africa as Vice President and Strategic Business Unit Manager. The moves will be fully effective July 1.

Hietink will be based in Greif’s Vreeland office in the Netherlands and report to Ivan Signorelli, Senior Vice President, Industrial Packaging & Services - Europe. He will be accountable for continuing the implementation of the Greif Business System, as well as corporate development.

Zimmerman will maintain offices in Cape Town and Vanderbijlpark, South Africa, and report to David Fischer, Divisional President, Industrial Packaging & Services – Americas. He will have overall responsibility for five countries in Africa where Greif has manufacturing operations, and general manager duties specifically for South Africa.

Hietink has held a variety of positions with Greif in his 15 years with the company. After completing his degree in Business Economics at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, and finishing military service as an officer in the Royal Dutch Navy, he started with Van Leer in 1991 as Area Controller in Amstelveen, then served as SBU Controller Closures in Amsterdam. In April 1998 he became SBU Controller Africa and moved to Regional Manager, Africa in August 2003. Greif acquired Van Leer Industrial in 2001.

Zimmerman joined the Company in 2001 as Global Cash Manager and was promoted to Treasurer in 2003. On Jan. 1, 2006, he was named Vice President of Corporate Business Development. A Certified Cash Manager, he has a bachelor’s degree in Business

Administration/Systems from Taylor University, Indiana, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Dayton in Ohio.
